Recent Work

We blog highlights of our recent sessions to give you a glimpse of the great clients we work with and the wide variety of  styles  we deliver at numerous locations around Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor and Northern Colorado.

Nicole and Billy Tie the Knot.

We had beautiful weather in Littleton for Nicole and Billy's wedding. Their ceremony was at Light of the World Catholic Church and the reception overlooking the foothills at Terrace Gardens.  The flowers from Palmer Flowers in Fort Collins were beautiful as was the cake from Cakes Amore. Before the reception we slipped away for a few minutes to South Valley Park for some romantic photos. The rocks, lake and tall grasses made for some amazing photos of this highly photogenic couple.

An evening with Cody

Cody Senior Portraits Today we had the pleasure of photographing Cody, a Fort Collins High School senior. Cody chose some of our favorite locations for his session, old town Fort Collins and in the rocks overlooking Horsetooth Reservoir. Cody has a very natural smile and warmed up to the camera very quickly. With Sharon handling our remote lighting we photographed well past sunset for some truly unforgettable images. Thanks to Cody and Tina for permitting us to capture such unique memories.

Here is the video of just a few of the photos:

Decks and City a Success

I was invited by the Chicago Coalition for the homeless to photograph their fundraising event Decks and the City which was a night of Art, Fashion, Dance & Chance. There were local artist painting on premisis, local DJ, a great fashion show and lots of fun gambling for prizes! It was such an honor ot be a part of such a wonderful event and I hope to continue to work with them in the future, they support a population who often gets lost and forgotten. If you want to know more about what they do check out their website http://www.chicagohomeless.org/ here is a collage of the images from the night. A night of Fashion, Art, Dance and Chance

Sandberg Photography is in 2 Cities!

Sandberg Photography is made up of myself (Megan Hazel) and my father (Ken Sandberg). We formed this company when we were both living in Colorado. Due to my husbands work I have had to relocate to Chicago, IL. This is a great step forward in our business as we wanted to expand and now Sandberg Photography is in two states. We photograph weddings, high school seniors, and other portraits in both places. The quality of our services and products will stay the same. We look forward to building up this new business! Go Cubs!

Lindsey and DJ

Sometimes the personal touches make the best parts of a wedding! Lindsey and DJ felt it was important to include their extra family members in their wedding day festivities therefore their two beautiful dogs were the ring bearers. As they were finishing up their vows in the gazebo at the Tapestry House their friend, carefully holding the 2 dogs, loses his grip of their youngest Dog who jumps at the chance to join the fun running into the gazebo. DJ later said he wouldn't want it any other way. Every wedding is different and has it's own unexpected events which make it an even more perfect day! Congratulations Lindsey and DJ on a day of fun and unexpected events.

Engagement Time

We always like to spend some time together with the bride and groom before before the wedding which is why we enjoy the engagement sessions so much. Nicole and Billy are getting married this August and we got to spend a relaxing afternoon walking around the CSU Campus and around downtown. They were great subjects and as the afternoon went on they were able to relax and just have fun.

Gina and Scott

Gina and Scott love the outdoors and they love to be different! Their wedding was well planned, they actually were getting married in Colorado and then having a second reception in Tacoma, WA the next Week. The wedding was held at Saint Vincent DePaul Parish and then reception was held nearby at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The goal of the day was to bike with all their friends and family to the reception, yes bride in wedding dress and all. Well they were really flexible as just before the guests began to arrive the rain poured, the hail came and the thunder boomed. While it was unique, just as the bride and groom were announced the thunder welcomed the new couple, the bike ride and stop to slide down the inflatable slide at the local fair was cancelled. The couple still played out in the rain enjoying the unexpected change! It was such a fun and special day, Gina and Scott thanks for inviting us be a part of it.

We are here at the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International ) conference in Vegas getting geared up for another year in photography. Each year I think I am sure I will have heard or learned it all, but there are new energetic speakers and lots of good advice to make our work better! Can't wait to bring back the information to work into our workflow!

Mike's Session

When it comes to Senior pictures, many guys just aren't as comfortable with the process and for many of them they would rather take a snap shot and use that then spend an hour or 2 taking photographs. Mike was no exception, his Mom called us for help because she really wanted photographs and didn't know how to get him excited about it. As we talked on the phone, I suggested that someone who is close to Mike come with him instead of her to help support him. On the day of the shoot, Mike's girlfriend came with him and she helped him relax and even joined him for a photo. Whether a male or female, it is definitely something to consider, sending someone to come along who will help to encourage relaxation and laughter. Here is the video from that day!

Kim's day from a Dream

This week we got to go to Denver to photograph Kim's high school senior portraits. She greeted us with such excitment I knew this was going to be a really fun day. We walked all around downtown and along the river.Kim was a natural! She tired positioned herself often how she felt comfortable which madethe pictures looknatural. As we got towards the end Kim said I have been dreaming about how this day would go and it was exactly what I wanted! Here is a video for kim's photos:

The Rainbow above it all.

This wedding was truly blessed, with rain all morning we were able to hide under trees as the Colorado State University Oval to get some great family portraits. The wedding went well and after coming out from the ceremony a rainbow appeared in the sky. It was even more amazing when we made it to the reception hall at Saint Elizabeth Anne Seton. It was the blessing over the whole wedding.

A Hot Time at Rachel & Phil's Downtown Denver Wedding
d3k_9691

Even the record temperatures in Denver couldn't put a damper on Rachel & Phil's lively wedding. We started at the beautiful and traditional Holy Ghost Catholic Church with a service by Father Mark from Boulder. Many of the students that Rachel teaches as St. Thomas More Parish School and their families were there along with a strong showing of college friends from Gonzaga University. The night went off smashingly.

Tonight we got to photograph Melissa and Sean who got married in Fort Collins at the Cottonwood Club. They got to use the whole venue which helped to have lots of places to take pictures. They were really fun, lots of laughter, joking and having fun all night long. We were able to take some time away from everyone else and go over to Fossil Creek Nusery next door photograph just the two of them, showing yet again that you really can photograph in many non traditional places.

A Little Family Fun!

As summer is getting on, our family piled into the Honda pilot and went for a trip to enjoy the beautiful Southern Colorado mountains. We went to Durango, San Dunes, 4wheeling by Ouray and lots of  amazing sights to see. Because of all the rain they are getting there (a storm every afternoon) everything is much greener then here. It was great to hang out and be with the family which includes Me (Ken) and my wife Linda, Megan and her siblings Jaime and Jeff and my 2 grand kids Austin and Mackenzie.

For a while it looked like Abigail's portrait session would  called on account of rain but the rain subsided and we had a great session. The cloudy sky along with the addition of our softbox for natural lighting yielded amazing results. Check these out. Thanks Abigail for a fun afternoon.

Romance in the Rockies

This weekend it was off to the Beaver Meadows Resort near Red Feather Lakes to photograph Nowell and Seth's mountain wedding.  The area was beautiful and since Seth had worked there at one time, they knew all the best spots. The wedding was carefully planned and we had a gas photographing them. One of the special things we try to do at each wedding is put together a short slide show with some of our favorite images of the day and display it on our Macbook toward the end of the reception. Here is the slideshow that was shown at their wedding with some music we added later. Nowell and Seth's Wedding Highlights Video

Kathryn's Senior Portraits

Senior portraits are meant to portray  a sense of who the individual  has become, their interests and their attitudes. Kathryn was the latest senior portrait session and attitude.  We spent  time taking photos around Kathryn's house  because they are going to be moving soon and she wanted to capture some memories there. Once Kathryn got comfortable with us following her around, we photographed her with her dogs, her trombone, her letter jacket and her class ring, all things that were important to her.

This weekend we got to stay in Fort Collins and photograph Paige and Greg's Wedding on the Terrace at the Lincoln Center. The two of them described their wedding as a "vintage 50s European style wedding. With Paige's tea length dress and cute circular veil and Greg's pinstriped tux, they fit the part. This was an intimate and fun wedding. Paige and Greg managed to stay wonderfully relaxed and just be their normal energetic selves which made for very natural and photo journalistic photographs. One of the pictures shown below was Greg's response to the line you may kiss the bride (The prompt formal handshake! )  Greg and Paige ended their evening with a European flair riding off into the sunset on their Vespa (which of course matched the wedding colors)
